This is the ninth year we have conducted our annual survey on the use of building information modeling (BIM) by engineers and designers in the MEP industry.
Use of BIM for 3D collision detection continues to stay the same. No surprise there.
New this year is a comparison of other uses of BIM. We started tracking predictions in 2015 of using BIM for automated design and calculations, creating construction documents, green building design, and providing a Revit deliverable. Now we can compare the predictions from 2015 with the actual use three years later and see how they match up.
