User Conference Date and Location Survey

We asked in our last newsletter for preferences on our next user conference date and location. We received a handful of responses. Our current plan is to do an electrical-only conference in Chicago in late September or early October, but that could change. If you have an opinion about where we should hold our user conference this year, you can still take our survey and let us know.

Take the survey.

The user conference is a day and a half of training that we hold each year. There are two main benefits to the conference. You get high quality training from the people who wrote the software and you get to meet other people who are using the software. The classes are design to be beneficial even for experienced users. The conference count as 9 hours of continuing education credits.

Read about last year's conference here.

If that sounds like something you would be interested in attending, take the survey to let us know when and where you would be interested in having it held.

AutoCAD 2015 Support

Autodesk released AutoCAD 2015 on March 27, 2014.

Our new release, which has moved from Beta to Release Candidate status, is compatible with AutoCAD 2015.

The current versions of Design Master HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing will not work in AutoCAD 2015.

New Version Now "Release Candidate"

We have moved our new version from Beta to Release Candidate status. We are no longer adding new features and it has been very reliable over the last few months of testing. All current users are invited to download and install the new version.

We packed a bunch of new features into these versions. The links below describe the changes we made to each program.

Online Training: Multifamily Dwelling Unit Calculations and More

We want to try something new this month: an online training class. The class will be set up so that participants will view the class on their computer screen and listen over their phone or computer speakers. Depending upon how it goes, we might do more in the future.

The first class will be about Multifamily Dwelling Unit Calculations in Design Master Electrical 8.3. More information about this first class is available below.

If you are not interested in this specific class, but are interested in us offering other classes in the future, fill out our future training class survey. Whether we continue to offer training classes and the specific classes we offer will be guided by the reponses to the survey.

(Editor's Note: The survey is now closed.)

The Multifamily Dwelling Unit Calculations class will cover all the new features included in the release that allow you to properly perform these calculations, including panel feeder and service calculation methods, recurring panels, new load types, and updating your panel schedule customization. The emphasis will be on multifamily dwellings, but there will be general information about all of the calculations from NEC 220.40 through NEC 220.88.

The class will be April 14 at 12pm Eastern.

There is no cost to attend the class. We can mail a certificate of attendance for 1 hour of continuing education to you for $30. A certificate for Florida is available for an extra $30. A certificate for New York is available for an extra $70.

Design Master HVAC Improves Efficiency “Across the Board” at MEP Associates’ Oklahoma Office

MEP Associates, LLC is a multi-disciplinary engineering consulting and design firm with headquarters in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Based in MEP Associates’ Norman, Oklahoma office, Will Davis, Mechanical Engineer, EIT, has been using Design Master HVAC for just a few months. “My colleague Jesse Babb, who’s an electrical engineer, introduced me to the software,” Mr. Davis recalls. “Jesse has been using Design Master Electrical for about five years. I tried the HVAC version and immediately realized how much it could help me.”
