President
David got his start in AutoCAD working for his dad's engineering company. He spent the summer before 7th grade working as a drafter before moving into AutoCAD customization.
He first started writing Design Master HVAC for internal use at Abacus Engineered Systems in 1994. He continued to develop that program and Design Master Electrical there, then later at Robison Engineering.
In 2001, he started Design Master Software together with his dad. He is involved in all areas of the company, including software development, sales, and marketing.
He graduated from the University of Washington in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Economics.
Vice-President
Mark worked at a few different engineering companies before starting his first company, Abacus Engineered Systems, in 1983. He grew that company to 80 people before selling his portion to his partners in 2000. He then started another company, Robison Engineering, Inc. He grew Robison Engineering to 30 people, then sold half to some of the principals at the company. Robison Engineering has continued to grow and as of 2021 was 60 people.
When Design Master was first started, he was directly involved in writing the code of the software. He now acts as the engineering advisor for the company and provides real-world feedback through his use of the software at Robison Engineering.
He graduated from the University of Washington in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was first licensed as a Professional Engineer in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering in 1979.
Software Development, Sales
Jason started working at Design Master in 2006. He splits his time between software development and sales.
He graduated from the University of Louisville in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Computer Engineering.
Software Development
Derrick started working at Design Master in 2007. His primary duty is software development.
He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
Technical Writing
Kane started working at Design Master in 2018. He maintains all of the documentation for the software.
He graduated from North Carolina State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology and Society, focused on technical and graphics communication.
Customer Support
Joe started working at Design Master in 2022. He serves as the first point of contact for support inquiries and helps onboard new customers.
He previously worked as Head of Project Management at a web design company, overseeing customer support and other operations affecting thousands of clients.
Marketing
Beau started working at Design Master in 2023. He’s responsible for the wider marketing needs of the company, including the blog and newsletter, social media, customer-related content, and more.
He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Communications and has worked in marketing for a variety of industries throughout his career.
Mark and David first started writing Design Master together in 1994 for use at Abacus Engineered Systems. They continued to work on it for use as an internal tool there and later at Robison Engineering.
They started selling Design Master HVAC and Design Master Electrical to other engineering companies in 2001.
