Defining Walls
This tutorial teaches you how to define walls.
You will define the exterior walls of the kitchen, lobby, and concession area.
Open drawing M-1.0.
Define an Exterior Wall​

Run the
Query Wall command.
Ribbon:DM HVAC→Rooms and Walls→ Query Wall
Pulldown Menu:DM HVAC→Building Definition→Walls→Query Wall -
Select the north-facing wall of the kitchen. The Specific Wall Information dialog box will open.

Select 🔘 Heat Transfer and Solar Gain (Wall).

In Wall, set Wall Type ▾ to BRK - GWB - R19.

Press the button to close the dialog box.
The wall is now thicker to indicate heat transfer.
Match Wall Properties​

Run the
Match Wall Properties command.
Ribbon:DM HVAC→Rooms and Walls→ Match Wall Properties
Pulldown Menu:DM HVAC→Building Definition→Walls→Match Wall Properties -
Select the north-facing wall of the kitchen.

Select the west-facing wall of the kitchen. The properties of the north-facing wall will be copied to this wall.
- Continue selecting the exterior walls of the lobby and concession area.
Modify Walls​

Run the
Query Wall command.
Ribbon:DM HVAC→Rooms and Walls→ Query Wall
Pulldown Menu:DM HVAC→Building Definition→Walls→Query Wall -
Select the exterior wall of the concession area. The Specific Wall Information dialog box will open.

In Glass, select 🔘 Complex and make the following changes:
- Set Quantity to 1.
- Set Width to 7.
- Set Height to 4.

Press the button to close the dialog box.

Run the
Query Wall command.

Pulldown Menu:DM HVAC→Building Definition→Walls→Query Wall -
Select the southwest-facing exterior wall of the lobby. The Specific Wall Information dialog box will open.

In Door, set Door Type ▾ to Wood, No Ins.

Select 🔘 Complex and make the following changes:
- Set Quantity to 1.
- Set Width to 6.
- Set Height to 7.

Press the button to close the dialog box.
