Connecting Ducts Between Floors

Ductwork can be connected across different drawings or on different floors in the same drawing using these methods.

Floors on the Same Drawing

If your floors are all on the same drawing, draw your vertical duct on each floor, then draw a connecting duct between the floors.

Use the Query Duct command on the connecting duct and set the Graphics ▾ to Transparent. If you use our pressure drop calculations, set Pressure Drop in this Section to 0 and check the ☐ Lock box.

That will keep the air flowing between the floors, but not actually draft anything.

Floors on Different Drawings

If your floors are on different drawings, use the Insert Drawing to Drawing Connection command to connect the drawings.

The Ductwork Across Multiple Floors section of the Design Master HVAC tutorial shows how the command is used.
