Bus Ducts in Revit
Revit does not handle bus ducts well. There are a few different ways you can model them, each with different tradeoffs. We explore the options that are available and how the options impact single-line diagrams and calculations in ElectroBIM.
We look at the following topics for bus ducts:
- The difficulties of modeling bus ducts in Revit
- Conceptualizing how to model bus ducts using the Electrical Design Triangle
- Connecting subfeed panels directly to the bus duct in the model
- Connecting subfeed panels to nodes being fed by the bus duct in the model
- Different ways devices can be connected to gather calculated values at different points
- Drafting the connections in the single-line diagram
We also answer the following questions:
- "What happens if custom feeders use the same Feeder ID but have different callouts?"
- "If I need to see how load changes on one panel affect the voltage drop on the other panels, how should I model my bus duct connections?"
- "How would I model bus ducts that are different ampacities at different sections?"
- "Can custom callouts be predefined at the project level?"
