Single-Line Diagram Graphics Disconnected From the Model
I have items on the single-line diagram that were inserted using ElectroBIM commands. When I recalculate or try to edit a device on the single-line diagram, I get a warning that items on the single-line are not linked to the model. What's causing it and how do I fix it?
There are two common reasons why items on the single-line diagram could become disconnected, detailed below.
Cause
Items Were Copied
If a drafting view is duplicated or individual detail items are copied, the resulting copies will not be linked to devices in the model.
This is partially by design and partially due to limitations in how copying works in Revit.
Items Were Moved While ☐ Disjoin Was Enabled
The Revit Move command includes settings that control how linked items are affected when moving detail items. If the ☐ Disjoin setting is enabled, any links to the selected detail items will be broken.
Follow these steps to disable the ☐ Disjoin setting:
-
Select one or more items on the drafting view.
-
Run the Revit Move command.
-
Below the left side of the ribbon, uncheck the ☐ Disjoin checkbox, shown in the image below.
Disabling this setting will not fix any graphics that are already disconnected, but it will stop the issue from occurring.
Solution
Regardless of the cause, there are two solutions:
- Erase and reinsert the device on the single-line diagram.
- Use the Change Link command to relink the graphic to its corresponding device in the Revit model.
