Dialog Box Does Not Appear When Running Commands

I ran an ElectroBIM command that should open a dialog box. The Revit icons grayed out to show the window has lost focus, but I don't see the dialog box.

tip

In some cases, such as when running the Panel Edit command while in a drafting view, the dialog box will not appear immediately. Check the lower-left corner of the Revit window for a prompt asking you to select an object or press a key, then follow the prompt to proceed.

If you do not see a prompt, follow the steps below to fix the issue.

Cause

When an ElectroBIM dialog box opens, the software stores the onscreen position of that dialog box so it will open in the same place next time.

If the last known position for a dialog box was on a monitor or video source that is no longer connected, ElectroBIM may still use that position, opening the dialog box somewhere that is not visible.

Solution

To reposition the dialog box somewhere visible, follow these steps:

  1. Run the command, then press ALT + SPACE.
  2. Press M.
  3. Press one of the arrow keys. The dialog box will attach to your cursor.
  4. Move the cursor to your preferred position for the dialog box.
