Backing Up and Transferring Customization Files
What Is Stored in the Customization Foldersβ
ElectroBIM creates a customization folder where all of your customization files and settings are stored, including but not limited to:
- Single-line diagram graphics
- The feeder ID master schedule
Where the Folders are Locatedβ
To see where your customization folder is located, use the User Options command.
The customization folder location is provided in the Customization Folder field. The default location isΒ C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Design Master Software\Electrical RT Customization
where <User Name> is the name you use to log in to your computer.
Backing Up the Customization Folderβ
To back up your ElectroBIM installation, the most important files to protect are the ones in your customization folder. The files in the main Design Master Software folder are part of the standard installation package and can be recreated by reinstalling the software.
Including the ElectroBIM customization in your normal backup routine is recommended.
Copying the Customization Folder to a New Locationβ
If you made changes to your customization and need to copy those changes to a new location, it is typically for one of two reasons:
-
You have gotten a new computer. In this case, you need to install ElectroBIM on the new computer so the customization folder exists, then copy the files from the local folder on your original computer to the local folder on your new computer. When you paste the files, overwrite the ones created by the installer.
-
You are converting from a single-user customization to a shared customization on the company network. In this case, you need to copy the files from your local folder to the network folder. Make sure everyone using ElectroBIM at the company changes their Customization Folder location in the
User Options command to the new location.
