File Loading - Security Concern

When I load Design Master Electrical in AutoCAD, a "File Loading - Security Concern" dialog box appears.

The error may be similar to this:

File Loading - Security Concern

An executable was found outside of the specified trusted locations. What do you want to do?

File name and location

Make sure that this file comes from a trusted source and does not contain malicious code.

Cause

Autodesk added the concept of "Trusted Locations" to AutoCAD in 2014. All third-party files need to be installed from a trusted location, or the File Loading - Security Concern dialog box will be shown.

When Design Master Electrical is first installed, it configures the AutoCAD TRUSTEDPATHS system variable to include the install folder, which prevents this dialog box from appearing in the future.

If you are seeing this dialog box every time you load Design Master Electrical, it is because the install folder has been removed from TRUSTEDPATHS.

Solution

If you are loading Design Master for the first time, press the  button. Once the installation is complete, the AutoCAD TRUSTEDPATHS system variable will be configured to no longer display this dialog box.

If the dialog box appears every time you open AutoCAD, run the Installation Settings command.

Leave the settings alone and press the button. Confirming your installation settings will configure the AutoCAD TRUSTEDPATHS system variable to no longer display this dialog box.

Solution for non-DM Files

If you are seeing this error message for a file that is not related to Design Master, there are two solutions:

  • Run the AutoCAD OPTIONS command. Go to the Files tab. Add the folder where the file is located to the Trusted Locations ☰ path.

  • Set the AutoCAD SECURELOAD system variable to 0. Using this value will load all files without any warning messages.

    danger

This solution could leave you vulnerable to malicious files, and is used at your own risk.
