Database Connection Error

On some projects, I receive the following database connection error when running commands:

Design Master

Database connection error.
Close and reopen AutoCAD.

If you are getting this error frequently, press "Yes" to send an error report to Design Master Support.

When sending the error report, it may contain the phrase Disk or network error or ADS request error.

Cause

Database connection errors occur when Design Master Electrical attempts to write information to the database and fails, either because it cannot establish a connection to the file, or because there are errors in the database.

Solution

Restart

Restarting AutoCAD or your computer is often enough to reestablish the connection to the database.

If you are still getting the error after restarting, or find you are having to restart often, there is likely a deeper issue with your database.

Make a Local Copy

This error can also happen if your project files are stored on a company network or cloud server and there are problems with that connection.

Using Windows Explorer, make a copy of your project folder in a location on your local machine, such as your desktop. Open the copy and try running some commands. If the database connection error goes away, the problem is most likely with your network and will need to be diagnosed and repaired.

Contact Us

If you have restarted and have confirmed that it is not a network-related issue, the next time you see the error, press the button.

This button will run the Send Project to Design Master Support command, which you can use to send us the error report and your project for further testing and support.
