Backing Up and Transferring Customization Files
What Is Stored in the Customization Foldersβ
Design Master Electrical creates a customization folder where all of your customization files and settings are stored, including but not limited to:
- Master and standards databases
- Block drawings
- Slides
Where the Folders are Locatedβ
To see where your customization folder is located, use the Installation Settings command.
The customization folder location is provided in the Customization Folder field. The default location for a local install isΒ C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Design Master Software\Electrical Customization
where <User Name> is the name you use to log in to your computer.
Backing Up the Customization Folderβ
To back up your Design Master Electrical installation, the most important files to protect are the ones in your customization folder. The files in the main Design Master Software folder are part of the standard installation package and can be recreated by reinstalling the software.
Including the Design Master Electrical customization in your normal backup routine is recommended.
Copying the Customization Folder to a New Locationβ
If you made changes to your customization and need to copy those changes to a new location, install Design Master Electrical to the new location so the customization folder exists, then copy and paste the entire folder from the original computer to the new location. When you paste the files, overwrite the ones created by the installer.
This process is typically needed for one of two reasons:
- You are a single user and you purchased a new computer. In this case, you need to copy the files from the local folder on your original computer to the local folder on your new computer.
- You are moving from a single-user to a multiple-user installation. In this case, you need to copy the files from your local folder to the network folder.
